Geriatric diseases such as Alzheimer's disease are extremely stressful for patients and their families. Moreover, they create difficult financial and organizational problems for the health care system. There is urgent need for progress in both research and treatment of these diseases.
Approximately 20-25% of persons over the age of 85 suffer from Alzheimer's disease. This age group is growing faster and faster. Meanwhile, Alzheimer's disease remains incurable.
The aim of the Synapsis Foundation - Alzheimer Research Switzerland ARS is to promote innovative research in Switzerland in order to advance the understanding of Alzheimer's in all stages of the disease.
